For the Job Seeker: Work Ready was created to ensure that Georgia’s workers have the best skill sets for employment, easier access to better job opportunities and a better quality of life. It also helps the job seeker find the best job for them.

For the Employer: For the employer Work Ready is beneficial because it allows the employer to see that the employee or potential employee has the skill level and also demonstrates that the employee has made a commitment to his or her success.

THE GOVERNOR’S WORK READY VISION

In 2006 Governor Perdue implemented the GA Work Ready Initiative to help communicate the importance of linking workforce and education as well as aligning economic development at the state, regional and local levels through Work Ready.

ASSESSMENT

The Work Ready Assessment is administered by the ACT accredited WorkKeys system. The 3 core assessments that we do are Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information and Locating Information. These are three skills that are highly important to the majority of jobs in the workplace.

The assessment is administered at all of the 33 Technical Colleges. DeKalb Workforce is also a testing site.

CERTIFICATE

The Work Ready Certificate is awarded based on score level earned in the three core skill assessments. Platinum = a score of at least level six in each of the three core areas 99% or higher.

Gold = a score of at least five in the core areas 90%

Silver= at least four 65%

Bronze is a score of at least a level three 35%

The state’s network of technical colleges offer a variety of ways you can improve your Work Ready skill level. You can contact your local technical college or DeKalb Workforce to learn how to access free online skill gap training.
